Drawing to Digital
In Term 3 we will be offering an new and exciting outreach program to schools, Drawing to Digital
An innovative multi-media artwork program initially developed as a collaboration between artist Stephen James and the students of Greta Public School thr program takes students from expressive drawing using traditional media through to digital interventions using a wide range of software applications.
Beginning with experiential drawing activities Stephen has led the students in a process of discovery and development culminating in the use of the 'smartboard' as both artistic medium and exhibition mechanism enabling images with their origins in drawing to be developed using digital technology and ultimately shared across the web.
The children of Greta Pubic School have responded with overwhelming enthusiasm to the project and the art they have produced is stunning in its freshness and the maturity of composition. The artwork spans the spectrum of communication technologies from the most elemental in charcoal drawing to the high tech classroom 'smartboard' and outwards to the web and social networking media. The project is funded by ArtsNSW and the Australia Council for the Arts through the 'ConnectEd' program.

The program seeks to engage the individual, the school population, the local community, the broader community and the global community in an aesthetic experience which can be shared by a multitude of audiences.
