Kirkton Public School

On Wednesday, 10 November, Kirkton Public School became part of Cessnock Regional Art Gallery's 'Gallery Goes To School' Program.

Artist Kim Barnes visited the school, and students learnt about Post-Impressionist artist Vincent Van Gogh.

The 'Gallery Goes To School' Program is a Cessnock Regional Art Gallery initiative designed to add to the wonderful creative arts work done by the teachers in our local area. It also provides an opportunity for children who otherwise may not get to experience an art gallery to engage with art and artists. We like to think of it as bringing a little magic into a school for a day and hoping that magic lingers in some creative minds for some time to come. This program is sponsored by Coal and Allied Industries, a division of Rio Tinto Pty Ltd.
