Pandora's Box Project

On Saturday 25th September 2010 the gallery launched the Pandora Project.

Three Pandora participants.
Perhaps more correctly it was concluded, as the project had been an ongoing creative project by local highschools and youth centres. Students had spent many weeks lesding up to the day painting their expreiences and recording their impressions of living in Cessnock LGA on large 1.2 metre canvases. The canvases were then constructed into giant cubes which were stacked together like giant building blocks in Sternbecks Park.

Local MP Kerry Hickey was delighted and amazed at the scale of the project. He congratulated project manager Todd Fuller and the gallery education officer Robina Booth on its success.

The canvases are now displayed in shops on the main street and in the foyer at Cessnock Library. Once the schools pick them up they will be on display at Mt View High School, Kurri Kurri High School and Cessnock High School.
