Description
Developed by Artback NT, this touring exhibition showcases the extraordinary works of established and emerging Indigenous artists with disabilities which have been produced through Art Centres in the Northern Territory.

Ngaruwanajirri, on Bathurst Island, has gained a reputation for excellence since it opened in 1994. Up to sixteen local Tiwi artists work at the centre. These include internationally recognised Lorna Kantilla, Alfonso Puantjimi and Estelle Munkanome, who form an integral part of this exhibition.

Mwerre Anthurre is a professional art studio program based at Bindi Inc. in Alice Springs. Established in 2000, Mwerre Anthurre artists have received national recognition through a series of high profile exhibitions. They can be found in collections nationwide including the National Gallery of Australia, Art Gallery of New South Wales, National Gallery of Victoria and the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. Billy Benn Perrurle won the 34th Alice Prize in 2006. Kukula McDonald, Billy Kenda, Lance James and Adrian Robertson are also included in this exhibition.

Julalikari Arts was established in Tennant Creek in 1994. In 2007/8, in connection with Arts Access Darwin and Artback NT, it held printmaking workshops for emerging Canteen Creek artist Dion Beasley. These workshops introduced Dion to an innovative way of making art and helped establish his reputation as an emerging artist. Dion held an exhibition in Cessnock Regional Art Gallery in 2009. Some of his prints will be showcased for Good Strong Powerful, along with Peggy Jones Napangardi's bold splashy paintings of country, bush foods and animals.
